    Born in Michigan, USA, Roshni Raju started Bharatanatyam when she was five, under the tutelage of Smt. Radhika Acharya, the founder and director of Nupur Academy of Dance. Smt. Radhika, a disciple of Guru M.N. Suvarna, Mumbai and Pt. V. J. Pillai, enjoyed choreographing both classical and fusion items. Roshni actively took part in many of these award-winning performances. After moving to India at the age of nine, Roshni continued Bharatanatyam under Late Smt. Usha Srinivasan founder and director of Hasta Dance Academy, and a senior disciple of Guru K. N. Dandayudapani Pillai. During her high school years, Roshni was captivated by the elegance and grace of the Kuchipudi style of dancing after watching her Guru Uma Murali Krishna perform. Kalaimamani Smt. Uma Murali, the founder and director of Subhasheela Academy of Fine Arts, is a dancer par excellence, well versed in both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She has studied under iconic gurus including Padmashri K.N. Dhandayudhapani Pillai, Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman, and Padma Bhushan Vempati Chinna Satyam. Roshni performed her Rangapravesam in Kuchipudi, under the tutelage of Smt. Uma, on February 26th, 2011 in Music Academy, Chennai. Soon after Roshni joined Medical school, but continued to perform Kuchipudi, winning many awards in intercollegiate competitions. Art has sailed Roshni towards starting her own venture in creative medical content writing and animation, called MED-bites. Roshni has performed Kuchipudi in esteemed Sabhas all over Chennai for almost 10 years, and was recently awarded the Mahila Ratna Award by Sri Kala Sudha Telugu Association, in Music Academy, Chennai.
